While we would like to hope that the code we write is solid as a rock and has zero flaws, we know that just isnt the case 100% of the time. While the forums continue to grow and we continue to add features and expand upon existing features, a bug here or there might pop up. Please use this post for reporting problems you are facing, or issues you notice with our new forums.

Rest assured, a Stardock rep will be monitoring this post and helping out as much as possible. With your help, we can make sure that the forums continue to run smoothly and without issue.

Regarding the deletion of all comment content during editing, on my end, I can replicate it in this manner.
From the "Add A Reply:" section at a bottom of a thread, I click Advanced Mode. I then entered some text in the edit box. Then I clicked the View Source button four times in succession, and the test text disappeared.
This is limited to Firefox, a similar test using Internet Explorer 6 did not lose the content of the edit box.

Now, how often will that happen, someone repeatedly clicking View Source in Firefox? Probably not often, but who knows what bit of info will be helpful to y'all! And it certainly could be a problem on my end, a Firefox extension or something..out of my league to speculate.

The following link will have been entered in this manner. I am in basic edit mode, typing this at the bottom of the thread, not on a separate Edit Page. I will click the Insert Web Link button, and paste in a URL. I do not know if this will replicate the mangling I experienced earlier or not. Link follows:
WWW Link

This reply was typed in the edit box at the bottom of this page, and I will not attempt to re-edit it. https://forums.wincustomize.com/?aid=125136#1024885

Well, that seems to have worked just fine. One more experiment, and I will stop bothering you. This is the same URL that I typed in another thread, and it displayed oddly.WWW Link

EDIT:  sorry to have wasted your time.  I guess I can't replicate it either.  Although I know it has happened to me more than once.

None the less, its still good to report when anomolies occurr. I'll have a look at the editor in firefox and see if I can get it to act up like you had. There may be something I can do about that at least.

I'm not sure what's going on, but I can't seem to edit my posts anymore. I thought I had read somewhere that you can't edit your posts if someone posts after you (is that still how it works?), but it's not the case here. When I click on the edit link it bring me to a page saying access is denied and tells me to create an account (but I obviously already have one and am logged in if I was able to post in the first place). Using Firefox 1.5.0.7.

Access denied page: Link

Edit: just noticed something, it only gives that error for threads from the WC News forum.

Andrew,

I know your busy with WC2k7, but recently everytime I attempt to change the size of my comments in WC forums, the bbcode "]" bracket gets changed to a >. I end up having to edit my post to correct this.

Here's an example: size="2"] <----- that will change to this ">" after I select post comment.

In addition to the size issue, I having been having of on issues with being able to edit some of my posts...which I only do when the bbcode error occurs. I'm redircted to a page stating "Access Denied you may register/create an account here if you like"...somewheres along those lines.

I should stat that I attempt to change the font as well as size. These two sentences will be a test that hopefully will error, so you may see what I mean.[/size]

Yup it worked...error on the last two sentences...

...just forgot to include my browser *cough* your archenemy...FF version 1.5.07

I have similar issues with posting from either IE7 (final) or FF (1507) using the quick-post at the bottom. I have just updated to FF 2, so will try again.

Also...in FF (1507 and 2.0) the text in the right column of the thread listing is overwriting itself and hard to read. Here is a screenshot of what I see...

Almost every other thread I've clicked on today has opened some off the wall thread that's a year or more old. I've seen this before, but no where near as often....

We've been attempting to track the issue for some time. We're stretched a bit thin at the moment and working on some of the other major sites, but are scheduled to do some maint. on the forums soon.

I came across a new one this morning while try to post to the December Screenshots Thread
Without the "full" image there's no way to complete the picture insert. Using Firefox 2 (Using IE7 to post this)

I get that one all the time in FF2. Tabbing between fields will illuminate the other fields and buttons.

I'm afraid that this isnt a bug. It's the new bbcode trying to play nice with the old system of how replies were (and still are) inserted into the database. In order to make the bbcode revert back from html to bbcode when you edit a reply or post, i'll have to write some regular expressions to handle it. And it's probably going to be after the new year before I can get to that.

BebiBulma (what the heck does that nick mean anyhow) - That's a directive from on high. Users arent allowed to edit their posts in the News category, unfortunately.

Lantec - Well, that's the testforums for the new wincustomize there. There's a post under Developer Journals where T-Man talks about the new site and people list some bugs. Might want to post that there instead. It's a layout issue, and we know what it is, but Dark-Star can't get to it at the moment. I would reccomend using forums.wincustomize.com for the time being. We'll have that fixed before the new wincustomize (and its forums) go live.

It's a Dragonball thing.

I figured that out after I posted it, we can't edit news post comments through the forums but we can through the Articles section (last I remember).
